There is something very dramatic, yet completely serene and tranquil about this scene. When I first saw the original reference photo by Chris Martin Wildlife Photography, I knew I wanted to paint it, and paint it on a large canvas at that. There is just something about monochromatic works- a balance of simplicity that is truly evocative.
