This image caught my attention right away. There is something very dramatic yet completely serene and tranquil about it at the same time. When I saw it I knew I wanted to paint it and paint it on a large canvas at that. Having not attempted black and white since a rather dodgy effort to paint a black and white album cover picture of Tracy Chapman back in high school, I was eager to give the monochromes another go. This is of course another fine image from Chris Martin Wildlife Photography, Chris has produced both a black and white version as well as a colour version of the image, both of which I have chosen to recreate on canvas. I must say though that there is just something about the black and white version that people really respond to, this is one of those images by being totally simplistic is completely evocative!
